About Ocean Week Fogo Island and Change Islands
Ocean Week Fogo Island and Change Islands (OWFI&CI) celebrates the deep connections between island communities and the North Atlantic. A set of islands located offshore of Newfoundland and Labrador, Fogo Island and Change Islands are home to twelve coastal communities with centuries-long ties to the sea, from the inshore cod fishery to today’s crab and shrimp harvests.
Through events and activities during Ocean Week Canada, OWFI&CI invites residents and visitors to explore the island’s marine ecosystems, rich fishing heritage, and the ongoing relationship between people and ocean.
