Ocean Week Canada is a national celebration of ocean events, learning, and engagement led by the Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition in collaboration with a team of content and event partners across the country. Growing Ocean Week Canada is one of the Action Streams identified to reach the National Strategy goals for Ocean Literacy in Canada.

Ocean Week Canada debuted as a small (all virtual) pilot in 2021, and became an official annual event in 2022. Ocean Week Canada took place June 3-12, 2022 and kicked off a summer-long Ocean Festival (unique to 2022) intended to lay a foundation of ocean awareness as Canada geared up to host the Fifth International Marine Protected Areas Congress (IMPAC5) in Vancouver.READ THE IMPACT REPORT
The Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition (COLC), together with a team of collaborating partners, co-led events at IMPAC5 that brought the public into ocean conservation conversations across generations, across cultures and languages, across backgrounds and experiences, across Canada and the globe.
