Ocean Week Campbell River

About Ocean Week Campbell River

Ocean Week Campbell River is a week-long series of events that celebrates our community’s deep connection to local marine ecosystems while drawing attention to the state of our oceans and the challenges it faces. Through a variety of engaging events and experiences, we increase awareness of the ocean, strengthen appreciation for the waters that shape our region, and inspire action to support healthy marine and freshwater ecosystems.

All participating organizations share a commitment to the health of local marine and freshwater environments, and that priority is reflected throughout the week’s programming. From educational and stewardship-focused events to creative and family-friendly experiences, each event is designed to help participants better understand, value, and care for the coast.

Programming throughout the week will include events such as shoreline cleanups, intertidal surveys, hands-on educational experiences, research presentations, creative workshops, and other community activities that celebrate and explore our connection to the ocean. Events centered on fun and entertainment also play an important role by fostering love, curiosity, and appreciation for local marine ecosystems. Look forward to the Ocean Week Festival that happens during the week each year!

We also recognize our close neighbours the Coast Salish Homolco, Klahoose, and K’ómoks First Nations. All of these nations have close connections, both past and present, to the ocean.
