Bring the whole family to the Fairy Trail Park Amphitheatre for a free, outdoor literacy celebration as we launch the Newmarket Library’s summer reading season full of stories, creativity, and discovery! Start the fun by meeting at the amphitheatre, then, as a family, explore the park trail, where you will enjoy reading the Indigenous Storywalk, Bindigen Amik Says Welcome, led by Canadian author Nancy Cooper—an engaging story woven into nature itself.
After your walk, return to the amphitheatre to enjoy a lively bubble show entertainment and hands‑on activities designed to spark imagination and inspire kids to read all summer long. Whether your children love playing at the park or splash pad, spotting frogs and other wildlife along the trails, dipping their toes in cool water, or searching for a special message in a bottle, this celebration is all about reading adventures and the joy of reading just for fun! Then as the sun sets on the horizon, casting a golden glow over your sandcastle, we hope you will take a moment to appreciate the water that sustains all life and to protect and cherish its wonders.
Bonus! Dress up as your favourite book character for a chance to win a prize—we can’t wait to see who shows up! This event is generously sponsored by Ocean Week Canada.
Note: This event will take place at the Newmarket Library in the event of inclement weather.
