Join the Special Bird Service Society for a memorable World Ocean Day celebration at Fisgard Lighthouse & Fort Rodd Hill, in partnership with Parks Canada, Georgia Strait Alliance, and other community allies. This event brings together science, Indigenous knowledge, and community action through guided coastal walks, storytelling, and hands-on water testing with a Water Rangers testkit. Designed with inclusivity in mind, it’s a welcoming space for people who face barriers to accessing nature—especially BIPOC, 2SLGBTQ+, and marginalized youth—inviting all to explore the beauty of the coastal ecosystem while learning about Species at Risk and ocean conservation.
Come enjoy interactive birding and ecology walks, where you’ll hear from Indigenous Knowledge Holders and environmental experts. Participate in fun and accessible activities like beach cleanups and citizen science with the Water Rangers testkit, and leave with new skills, a stronger connection to the ocean, and a deeper sense of stewardship.
