Science comes to life in Minto, New Brunswick, where a group of curious and dedicated students are taking their classroom learning straight to the water’s edge!
As part of Ocean Week Fundy, students will head out into their community to collect and analyze water samples from local waterways. Armed with equipment funded by Water Rangers, they will measure pH, water hardness, and dissolved substances, putting their knowledge of acids and bases to work in a real and meaningful way.
This is hands-on science at its best. Students will experience firsthand how the concepts they study in the classroom connect to the world right outside their school doors, and how local water health is part of a much bigger picture that reaches all the way to the ocean.
The best part? Their findings won’t just stay in the classroom. Results will be shared with the wider school community and potentially with the local municipality, giving these young scientists a real voice in conversations about the health of their environment. There is nothing quite like knowing your work truly matters!
From the rivers of rural New Brunswick to the ocean beyond, these students are making waves.
