Oars For Ocean

Ocean Week Victoria

May 31st 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Victoria, British Columbia

Oars for Ocean is hosted by the Gorge Narrows Rowing Club

This event is designed for participants to connect with the water in a joyful, meaningful, and impactful way, and give rowing a try. Gorge Narrows Rowing is collaborating with local conservation and non-profit organizations to build an event where participants can foster a responsible relationship with the local waterway, and leave feeling confident in building their own conservation practices.

What to expect on the day!

You’ll take part in a guided, hands-on rowing experience that is designed to be welcoming, engaging, and meaningful. Take note on the time slot that you signed up for! For the rowing portion of the event, you will be introduced to our club and equipment, have a chance to try out our ‘air-rower’, and get out on the water with some of our active members. Throughout the rest of the event, you’ll get the chance to connect with local organizations and community members who care deeply about ocean sustainability and healthy water practices. Step into a boat, feel the rhythm of rowing, and rediscovery your relationship with the Ocean.

Event Details and where to sign up!

Participants can register on Eventbrite. There are four time slots that participants can reserve to ensure the event runs smoothly. Ticket sales go towards supporting our transition to electric motors and environmental stewardship.

What to bring!

– comfortable, form fitting clothing (as to not get stuck in the equipment)

– water bottle

– weather-appropriate layers

Life Jackets (PFDs) will be available for anyone who would like one – your comfort and safety comes first.

If you have any questions before the event, feel free to reach out to us at director@gorgerowing.ca or call 250-361-8479
