Undersky is a live audio visual installation that stages a future-historical reenactment of Earth’s flora and fauna long after humanity has departed.
Sometime in the far future, hundreds of millions of miles away from the closest whale fall in the universe, a folktale is told about the ocean, whose waves one can still hear inside of a carefully preserved conch shell and whose contents is only accessible through the partial remains of the natural history archive in the starship’s computer system.
Using public-domain scientific illustrations and nature field recordings augmented to blur the boundaries between organic and synthetic, the work imagines a memorial to ecosystem loss as immersive entertainment.
The installation will be open to the public on:
Friday, May 29th from 4pm – 8pm
Saturday, May 30th from 12pm – 8pm
Registration link for performances in the space coming soon.
This project is presented by MANYBIRDS Collective with support from COLC and MAPP.
