This Ocean Week, something wonderful is happening at TRACKS PA Day camps, and the young people taking part are going to love it!
As part of their spring PA Day programming, children and youth will dive into the exciting world of water quality testing, discovering what community science looks and feels like up close. Thanks to equipment funding from Water Rangers, participants will get their hands on a Water Rangers education testkit and use it to explore the freshwater around them like true scientists in the field.
Workshops will be packed with interactive activities where young people can learn about water quality, explore careers and fields of study connected to water, and gain the kind of hands-on experience that sparks lasting curiosity. The test kit will remain with TRACKS Youth Program staff long after Ocean Week Canada wraps up, ensuring the learning and confidence built around water testing continue to grow for years to come.
The fun continues beyond Ocean Week Canada too, with the upcoming launch of a Nature Discovery Backpack lending library during TRACKS’ summer camp programming, giving young explorers even more tools to connect with the natural world around them.
TRACKS serves children and youth from low-income, rural, Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour communities, and this program is about making sure that the joy of outdoor science and a deep connection to water belongs to everyone. Every young person deserves the chance to fall in love with the world around them, and that is exactly what this is all about!
