Salmon Release and River Water Testing

May 2nd 2024
Crofton, British Columbia

We will be releasing our 100 coho fry into the Cowichan River on May 2. Two classes of Gr. 3/4/5 students (45 sts) will be going by bus to a local park to release our fry as part of the Salmon in the Classroom program. Cowichan River has been experiencing a reduction in salmon stocks in recent years due to drought and industry. We will test the river water using Water Rangers equipment to gather data for our own learning, and share with local stakeholders for their information.
