Get ready to make a splash! Riverkeeper Splash Days at the Hammond River Angling Association Conservation Center is a joyful, hands-on celebration of the incredible connection between rivers and oceans!
This exciting educational event welcomes at least 15 school classes and homeschool groups, bringing hundreds of curious young minds to the water’s edge to explore, discover, and fall in love with their local watershed. Students will get their hands wet with real water quality testing, go “critter dipping” to find the tiny benthic macroinvertebrates that tell us big stories about ecosystem health, and dive into the fascinating world of fish, fish habitat, and the Atlantic salmon lifecycle through fun interactive activities and games. Thanks to equipment funding from Water Rangers, students will have everything they need to explore like real citizen scientists!
The fun doesn’t stop there: Splash Days also runs alongside our beloved Family Fishing Derby, where participants will join in on water testing and fish education. That’s a whole lot of people connecting with their waters!
From headwaters to ocean, Splash Days sparks curiosity, builds stewardship, and leaves participants with a lasting love for the waterways that connect us all.
