As part of Ocean Week Canada, students from Kindergarten to Level 4 at Point Leamington Academy will take part in a special ocean education and beach cleanup event.
DFO Fishery Officers will begin the day with a presentation for students about the importance of our world’s oceans, the impacts of ocean pollution, and the ways students can help protect marine environments.
Following the presentation, students and Fishery Officers will travel to Point Leamington Beach to participate in a community beach cleanup. This hands-on activity will give students the opportunity to take direct action in helping keep local coastal areas clean and safe for wildlife.
The day will conclude with a BBQ, providing a fun and meaningful way for students to celebrate Ocean Week Canada while learning about ocean stewardship, pollution prevention, and the importance of protecting our coastlines.
