Ottawa Riverkeeper is a charitable organization, is a champion and collective voice for the Ottawa River watershed, providing leadership and inspiration to protect, promote and improve its ecological health and future. In partnership with the Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition, Ottawa Riverkeeper invites students from the indigenous community of Kitigan Zibi to participate in an educational workshop about the wonders of the Ottawa River watershed during which the participants will learn about its precious biodiversity as well as how we can, individually and collectively, contribute to its protection for the benefit of future generations. After a short presentation on the Ottawa River watershed at Ottawa Riverkeeper’s Learning lab, located in the magnificent NCC’s River House, in Ottawa, the students, accompanied by their teachers and an educator from Ottawa Riverkeeper, will do a guided tour to the Caldwell-Carver conservation area to learn about the importance of wetlands in regard to biodiversity as well as how to recognize some invasive species and how to control them.
