Even though we’re far from the coast, the ocean connects us all—through rivers, rainfall, history, and the economy. Join us on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River as we kick off Ocean Week Canada with a fun, interactive, and inspiring community celebration in Saskatoon!
This free, family-friendly event invites everyone to explore the connections between our prairie home and the world’s ocean. Through hands-on activities, storytelling, and local knowledge-sharing, we’ll explore how protecting the local waters helps protect the ocean we all share.
Highlights include:
🚮 Youth-Led Shoreline Clean Up | 10am – 12pm | Join WILD Outside youth, a Canadian Wildlife Federation program, for a shoreline clean up along the river – garbage bags & gloves provided
🎨 Hands-On Stations | 12:30pm – 2:00pm | Explore the “Ocean, Freshwater, and Us” Giant Floor Map, create ocean art with recycled materials, participate in citizen science by testing water and using iNaturalist, play games & more
Come connect with water, nature, and community—and discover how you can be part of the movement to protect our blue planet, starting right here in Saskatoon.
