Ocean Week Vancouver

June 6th 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Vancouver, British Columbia

Join award-winning scientist, extreme region explorer, and science communicator Moronke Harris at Vancouver Aquarium for two inspiring presentations that journey from the depths of the ocean to the icy waters of Antarctica. Whether you’re passionate about marine science and exploration or simply curious about our planet’s hidden wonders, these presentations offer a rare opportunity to experience two of Earth’s most extraordinary frontiers through the eyes of a modern explorer.

1:30 PM Deep-Sea Discovery: Exploring Earth’s Final Frontier

In her first talk, Moronke will take audiences beneath the waves to explore the remarkable discoveries emerging from some of the most remote and least understood regions of our planet. Through stories from deep-sea expeditions, submersible dives, and cutting-edge ocean technology, she’ll reveal how investigation continues to reshape our understanding of life, innovation, and the future of our ocean.

3:00 PM Antarctica: Science at the End of the World

Travel to one of the most extreme and rapidly changing places on Earth. Moronke will share insights from her recent Antarctic expedition, discussing why the polar regions matter, what it takes to prepare for exploration at the ends of the Earth, and how science, storytelling, and adventure can help connect people to our changing ocean. Explore Antarctica’s remarkable ecosystems, unique geology, and the critical role the continent plays in understanding climate change and the health of our planet.
