For World Ocean Day, Aodren Rouleau (16 years old) and his mother Magali Le Luc, both ambassadors of Mission 1000 tonnes, are launching the Mission 1000 Cigarette Butts challenge.
For one week, the goal is simple: collectively pick up at least 1,000 cigarette butts per day from our neighbourhoods, parks, streets, and public spaces to help reduce environmental pollution. Cigarette butts are among the most polluting types of litter found in nature. A single butt can contaminate hundreds of litres of water and release toxic substances harmful to ecosystems, waterways, and oceans.
Every butt counts.
To participate, no registration is required:
* Pick up cigarette butts near you
* Count the number of butts collected
* Log your participation at: https://tally.so/r/OD89p8
You can also follow the event and track the challenge’s progress on Facebook (Action Group: Mission 1000 tonnes).
Aodren and Magali’s dream? To one day reach 1,000 participants in the challenge… and prove that together, small actions can have an enormous impact.
