Join us at the PODS Showroom for a very special World Ocean Day screening of Nature Girl, a joyful and quietly powerful film created by filmmaker Trent Maynard in collaboration with shíshálh Nation cultural educator and knowledge keeper xets’emits’a, Candace Campo.
Shaped by five years of repeated visits to the same forest pool on shíshálh Nation lands right here on the Sunshine Coast, the film follows black bears, elk, deer, cougars, frogs, and birds as they return to a coastal wetland over time, revealing moments of play, humour, and unexpected connection. In a moment when so many environmental stories are shaped by urgency and loss, Nature Girl offers something different: the reminder that care grows from relationship, and that relationship takes time.
This is a night to slow down, be in community, and celebrate the lands and waters we are all so lucky to call home.
