JCCV Ocean Prowl in Celebration of Ocean Week Canada and World Ocean Day

This year, to celebrate Ocean Week Canada, Ocean Week Victoria, and World Ocean Day, the JCCV will host a coastal Ocean Prowl from Victoria to Sidney, BC, with vintage and newer Jaguar cars. Club members, families and friends will visit the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea, Sidney, BC, to celebrate and learn more about the health of the Salish Sea and our world ocean.

The event starts in Victoria with a “prowl” convoy involving older and new Jaguar vehicles with drivers, families, and friends, which will end in Sidney at the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea aquarium, followed by a lunch at a rural Saanich bakery.

The Jaguar Car Club of Victoria (JCCV) is a non-profit organization that primarily encourages and promotes safe, responsible driving. The Club is also affiliated with Jaguar Clubs of North America. In addition to their love and passion for classic vehicles, the JCCV members, many of whom are retired islanders, support and embrace sustainable environment and ocean conservation principles.

The Prowl itself is free! If you would like to visit the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea, prices are below.

Admission fees for the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea :

  • ADULTS (AGE 19-64) – $14+TAX
  • SENIORS (AGE 65+) – $12+TAX
  • YOUTH (AGE 13-18) – $10+TAX
  • CHILDREN (AGE 4-12) – $7+TAX
  • INFANT/TODDLER (AGE 3 & UNDER) – FREE

Many might ask why a car club would want to participate in an Ocean Week Canada event. In our monthly JCCV meeting in April there was such enthusiastic interest and support for Ocean Week Canada from our membership, that it was clear an event had to take place! Recently, one of our past members, a retired naval officer, spoke about the Ocean Week Canada event and how he was very happy that our Club is participating. He reminded us that our club, which is affiliated with dozens of Jaguar car clubs across North America, and around the world in fact, is a “new age” demographic for the sustainable development World Ocean Day/Week movement.

We are hoping to write a short article for the Jaguar Clubs of North America magazine journal after the event to encourage other car clubs and their members to become involved and engaged in ocean literacy and World Ocean Day… and as we know, every audience is important and every little bit helps.

As a final note, many of our members are supportive of the recent announcements out of the UK that by 2025 the entire Jaguar fleet will consist of all electric vehicles and are hopeful about new environmental measures being put in place.
