Ocean Learning and Fun – Indigenous World Ocean Day: Students in Grades K–2 at St. Anne’s School in Conne River are in for a special ocean-themed day! MAMKA and NAIA will be visiting classrooms to spark curiosity and celebrate our connection to the sea. Each visit will include a read-along, discussions on how the ocean impacts our lives, and hands-on activities to keep young minds engaged. It’s the perfect mix of learning and fun to inspire the next generation of Ocean Heroes!

Ocean Action – Indigenous World Ocean Day: Students from Grades 3-6 at St. Anne’s School will head to the shoreline for an exciting, hands-on session with MAMKA, Transport Canada and Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). They’ll dive into demonstrations of traditional eel traps, eel spears and fyke nets, learn about modern green crab traps and participate in a shrimp release and beach cleanup – a blend of tradition, conservation, and fun!

Safety First – Indigenous World Ocean Day: Students in Grades 7-12 at St. Anne’s School will take part in an important and engaging session with MAMKA, Transport Canada, and Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) focused on boating safety. From life jackets and emergency gear to navigation and respecting marine wildlife, students will learn what it takes to stay safe while enjoying time on the water. This session blends real-world knowledge with local relevance—perfect for young people growing up near the coast.
