During the event, students will take part in a shrimp release, a beach cleanup, and explore a variety of MAMKA equipment including eel traps, eel spears, fyke nets, and green crab traps. They will also meet DFO Fishery Officers and experts from Audubon, Birds Canada, and Environment and Climate Change Canada. Students will learn about birds, migration monitoring, and how Motus towers help track wildlife movements. They will also participate in a plankton tow, view marine organisms up close, and watch a beach seine demonstration. To wrap up a busy morning, students will enjoy a beach BBQ.
