The Allied Arts Council of Pincher Creek has been proud to be a part of the annual Day on the Creek celebrations for many years. Day on the Creek is a unique outdoor learning experience where over 800 students, teachers, parents, and the general public learn about the environment and human history along Pincher Creek and explore the importance of watershed stewardship. Day on the Creek is hosted by the Waterton Biosphere Reserve Association along with the Town of Pincher Creek.
This year, the UN published a report detailing how globally we have moved from a state of water crisis to water bankruptcy. With this in mind, now more than ever we believe it is important to connect kids to our hydrological systems, fostering a deep connection, care, and appreciation for water. With the help of some great volunteers and our kids program instructor, local grade one students created art in the outdoors focused on their connections to water.
This year during Ocean Week Canada we will have some of their works of art on display at the Lebel from June 3rd until June 10th. We’ll also have these works of art here on our website until June 24th.
Visitors to the historic Lebel Mansion will have a chance to not only see our gallery, gift shop and beautiful home, but a selection of the artistic creations made by young folks during Day on the Creek showcased in the main entrance of the Lebel.
Visit the Lebel Wednesday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and Saturdays from 12pm to 4pm
