BLUE FOR THE OCEAN on WORLD OCEAN DAY

This World Ocean Day, join us in celebrating World Ocean Day by lighting up your buildings in blue! Join us in a vibrant global initiative to raise awareness about the importance of ocean connection and ocean health, inspiring action to protect this big blue planet.

How to Participate:

  • Light It Up: Change exterior and interior light bulbs to blue (use blue bulbs, colour-changing bulbs, or bulbs painted blue), and/or project ocean-themed images onto the sides of your building
  • Make It an Event: Consider making your building lighting a special event and invite local media to spread the word further.
  • Show Your Support: Share your blue-lit photos on social media with the hashtag #BlueForTheOcean to join the national movement
  • Wear Blue: Encourage everyone—family, friends, coworkers, and staff—o wear blue apparel such as ties, scarves, shirts, or Ocean Week Canada merch on June 8th
  • Engage the Community: Invite local environmental groups to connect your community with the water, speak about the importance of the ocean and local waterways, and actions we can take to protect them

Together, let’s paint our communities blue to show our commitment to the ocean. Light up, dress up, and speak up for the ocean this World Ocean Day!
