The ocean is a home – video

Virtual, Quebec

The Arctic Marine Video Capsule project aims to raise awareness of Inuit perceptions of marine science. As visitors to their waters increase, we are working with Inuit actors and filmmakers from Igloolik, Nunavut to shine a light on how ocean literacy can be shared both ways.

The Arctic Ocean is home to Inuit communities, who live in close connection to the marine realm. As scientists increase their research of this rapidly changing environment, what do locals wish scientists would know? As Canada’s research icebreaker, Amundsen Science is producing a short video with Igloolikmiut to share their perspective on how Ocean Literacy can be enhanced for all. Ocean Week Canada will be the premier release, stay tuned for the posted short film.
