False Creek is Alive!

Ocean Week Vancouver

June 1st - June 9th
Vancouver, British Columbia

False Creek is Alive! celebrates the vibrant marine environment of False Creek during World Ocean Week. This annual event brings the community together to raise awareness about protecting our urban waterways and supports the goal of declaring False Creek a protected area—potentially Canada’s first National Urban Marine Park—by 2030. We are committed to engaging the public through community science, allyship with Traditional Knowledge Keepers, and cultural activities like storytelling and recreational water activities, fostering a sense of responsibility toward the natural world.

This year, we’re excited to introduce water quality workshops for urban Indigenous high school students, in collaboration with Raincoast Conservation Foundation with Water Rangers testkits, to inspire the next generation of marine stewards. Whether you’re drawn to the shoreline, the ocean, or a passion for community engagement, join us in celebrating the beauty of False Creek and help us shape its future!
