Host an Event for Ocean Week Canada

Join the Celebration, Join the Movement

Ocean Week Canada is an annual national celebration that brings people together through ocean-themed events, learning, and action.

By hosting an event, you become part of a nationwide movement dedicated to deepening our connection to the ocean and waterways across Canada!

Whether you’re an educator, artist, scientist, community leader, youth group, NGO, business, or anyone else that cares deeply about the ocean, you can help bring communities together to learn, share, and take action for a healthy ocean for future generations.

When is Ocean Week Canada?

Ocean Week Canada takes place each year in early June, leading up to World Ocean Day on June 8.

What is an Ocean Week Canada event?

Events can take place anywhere in Canada and should aim to be accessible and inclusive. There’s no one way to celebrate—here are just a few examples of how to get involved:

  • Art & Media – Host an art exhibit, performance, storytelling session, film screening, or photography showcase that celebrates our connection to the ocean.
  • Science & Learning – Organize workshops, science talks, or hands-on demonstrations focused on ocean biodiversity, research, culture, and conservation.
  • Festivals & Community Gatherings – Bring the community together to explore what’s happening in your region around ocean and freshwater conservation and knowledge sharing—through food, music, art, play, and more.
  • Outdoor Recreation & Community Action – Plan a beach cleanup, shoreline walk, guided paddle, or community stewardship event.

And so much more!
