June 4th 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Campbell River, British Columbia
Join us for a special tour of our project sites in the Campbell River estuary to celebrate Ocean Week! We’ll explore key restoration areas, including Baikie Island, the Mill Pond, and the Raven Trail.
Highlights of the tour include:
- A visit to our brand-new bird blind on Baikie Island
- A look at the riparian plantings along the Raven Trail
- A discussion of our latest project; sedge planting to restore vital salt marsh habitat
Plus, you’ll have the rare chance to see an eelgrass transplant in action! We’ll explain the process, from harvesting plants to preparing shoots, and learn how they are carefully relocated to help restore healthy underwater ecosystems. Come celebrate the incredible coastal ecosystems that make Campbell River so special, we can’t wait to share this behind-the-scenes experience with you!
Parking Please note: The Baikie Island parking area is closed. Participants are asked to park at the Ocean Blue parking lot (see map here). We will meet there and walk together to Baikie Island to begin the tour. If you have any trouble finding the location or need assistance, please contact Keely@greenwaystrust.ca or Phone Greenways Office: 250 287 3785.
