How are we connected to the ocean, even here in the Prairies? Step onto a giant map of Canada and explore the connections between our rivers, lakes, wetlands, and ocean coastlines through this unique, interactive experience.
The “Ocean, Freshwater, & Us” Giant Floor Map is a walkable map that lets visitors of all ages trace the flow of water across the country, discover the watersheds we live in, and reflect on the ways water shapes our lives—ecologically, culturally, and socially. You’ll discover how even landlocked regions like Saskatchewan are deeply linked to national water systems and the global ocean through rivers like the South Saskatchewan.
This is a drop-in, self-guided event—perfect for students, educators, families, and anyone curious about Canada’s freshwater and ocean systems. Materials and guiding prompts will be available to spark exploration and conversation.
Please note: 12:00–1:00 PM is a closed session for Indigenous research students.
The event opens to the public from 1:00–3:30 PM.
This event is part of Ocean Week Canada, celebrating our deep connections to water, coast to coast to coast.
