OAGEE Conference 2022 – Navigating Change

October 14th 2022 - October 15th 2022
North York, Ontario, Ontario

Workshop – A New Wave: Qcean-climate literacy for sustainable futures

Literacy at all levels is a global goal, but why the ocean? The UN “Ocean Decade” (2021-2030) provides an opportunity for learning communities worldwide to work together to transform ocean-climate knowledge into action. Join me as we investigate how a ‘blue curriculum’ makes topics related to SDG 14 – Life Below Water accessible for learners, strengthen their understanding of the interconnections between the ocean and climate change, and activate the emotive power needed to reimagine a healthier future state for the global ocean.

Educators will be provided with resources and tools created and curated by Ocean Week Canada and their fifteen content partners that they can take away from the workshop and use subsequently in their practice, with colleagues and learning communities.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the newly released Ocean Week Canada giant floor map, “Ocean, Freshwater and Us” during the workshop. (large map located on the lower floor)
