Eelgrass, Forage Fish, and Us – Can We Get Along?

June 4, noon to 1 pm

Presentation by Dianne Sanford

My talk/powerpoint will be an introduction to Eelgrass and Forage Fish, and their important connections to our shorelines and the impacts of what we humans do in these areas.

About Dianne Sanford

Dianne is a conservationist, naturalist, and has a constant curiosity about the world around us. She is now semi-retired, at least trying to be.

Dianne is the volunteer coordinator for Sunshine Coast Friends of Forage Fish, coordinating volunteer sampling for sand lance and surf smelt over the past decade at various local beaches. She has spent many years mapping eelgrass beds just offshore on the Sunshine Coast. Many children on the Sunshine Coast know her through the Salmonids in the Classroom program, as she held the Education Coordinator contract for Fisheries and Oceans Canada for over two decades. She was a Streamkeepers Trainer for the Pacific Streamkeepers Federation.

This event is part of the Sunshine Coast Ocean Festival
