Grand Étang Bio- and Art-blitz
Celebrate Ocean Week Canada with GAMS, the Gulf Aquarium and Marine Station Cooperative, and Centre Mi-Carême!
Sunday 8th JUNE 2025
1:30 – 5:00 pm
Join a team of citizen-scientists including local scientists, artists, and climate activists in a community bio-blitz!
Bring rubber boots, buckets, microscopes, notebooks, and—if possible—a smart phone with the application iNaturalist installed!
We’ll spend some time outside documenting plant and animal species found in the lower Grand Étang, then conclude in the Centre Mi-Carême workshop space with an art project based on our observations and group discussion.
We will be asking what can we learn from the diversity of species located in our own backyards? How can increased attention to and awareness of complex ocean biomes promote different forms of care?
Meet in front of GAMS, located on the wharf in the Grand Étang Harbour Authority building at 1:20pm
Rain or shine! So come prepared to get muddy and have fun! People of all ages welcome!
