Book Launch and Beach Clean Up

Ocean Week Victoria

May 14th 2023 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Victoria, British Columbia

Join Indigenous author Willie Poll and Illustrator bailey macabre for the launch of their new book, Minnow- The Girl who became Part Fish. This amazing story is about a young Indigenous water protector who goes on an underwater journey and learns about the perils of human activity on the ocean and all of their living relatives.

We at Medicine Wheel Publishing are proud to collaborate on this unique beach clean up and book launch with the Surfrider Foundation of Vancouver Island. We will be joined by Elder Shirley Alphonse for a water blessing and Elder Butch Dyck for an opening prayer prior to the clean up. This event is open to the public and everyone is welcome!

Greener is better! We will have snacks and refreshments, but encourage everyone to bring their own cups to reduce waste. Buckets, gloves and gear will be available to make the beach clean up a real success! Please note- there is a wheelchair ramp for those with mobility issues to the beach.
