The Public Service are set to play their biggest hometown show of the year, presented by Ocean Week Canada — at the Mic Mac AAC on May 26th, 2023 with D’Ambrosia. Local Dartmouth businesses have come together to create the ultimate Downtown Dartmouth gift basket to be given away at this free event, with all proceeds of the draw going toward helping a child learn to paddle on Lake Banook this summer.
The Public Service (formerly George Woodhouse and the Public Service) bring their love letters and goodbye notes in the form of indie folk-rock songs — on May 26th they’ll bid adieu to spring and welcome back the summer… Dartmouth style! Since performing at the 2023 World Junior Fan Fest, The Public Service are heading into their biggest summer yet, with upcoming performances at Full Circle Festival, Stan Fest, Granville Green and The Shore Club. Frontman George Woodhouse is coming off his solo acoustic set at the Brown Hound ECMA affiliate showcase. D’Ambrosia will be bringing her wistful lyrics and dream-pop melodies — readying the crowd for a Summer of love, leaving the chill of colder months behind.
The Public Service was founded on the belief that sharing your gifts with the world is a public service. They have been amazed by the support and enthusiasm from Dartmouth businesses who have donated local coffee and cider, vinyl records, a terrarium and much more to a gift basket that will be given away to a lucky showgoer on May 26th. All gift basket raffle proceeds will go directly to providing a local child with the experience of learning-to-paddle on Lake Banook this summer.
Ocean Week Canada has made this event free and open to the public, adding it to the over 100 of events taking place across Canada in the lead up to and during Ocean Week (June 2-11).
