About The Artist

The Public Service are creating the next generation of folk rock from the five corners of Punamukwatijk / Dartmouth, NS. Their debut album, Songs For The Living (2022) is a collection of love letters disguised as songs for the people and places we leave behind, not always by choice. Frontman, George Woodhouse, leans into the space where art and youth-led climate justice collide and spark new perspectives. Woodhouse has served as a musician in residence for two Students On Ice expeditions, while his band has performed on the main stages of the IIHF Canada World Juniors and the Stan Rogers Folk Festival. Songs For The Living reached no. 1 on CFBX in Kamloops as well as CFUV in Victoria. The Public Service features Joss MacNeil on vocals, Jan Lapierre on lead guitar, Justin Huston on bass, Andrew MacCormack on drums, and George Woodhouse on guitar and vocals.
