June 11th 2023 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Vancouver, British Columbia
The University of British Columbia Ocean Hub is a new student-led centre for ocean literacy that aims to unify the University of British Columbia, Ocean Uprise – a youth-led activist community under https://www.parley.tv/#fortheoceans – and Sustainable Ocean Alliance in driving impactful youth-led, ocean-climate action. The hub will be a collaborative space where students, UBC communities and NGOs can tap into and create events, opportunities and networks to improve ocean health.
The Ocean Week Jericho Beach Festival will be our first public event! Our aim is to create an engaging opportunity that will promote ocean literacy – specifically that on plastic pollution – and Vancouver youth-led action. We will be teaming up with Surfrider Vancouver on both the 10th and 11th of June to clean Kitsilano and Jericho Beach respectively. A local band will perform live at the venue on Jericho Beach (more information to come so stay tuned :)). This event is your chance to get hands-on experience in marine conservation, learn how Vancouver as a community can make an impact in the ocean space, and have some fun! Please bring your own reusable water-bottles, closed-toe shoes, and appropriate gear for the warm summer weather.
Please register (free) for the event with the link provided.
