When you subscribe to our newsletter or create an account, some of your data is processed by third-party platforms (Google and Mailchimp). Each of these operates under their own privacy policies and may be subject to laws outside Canada, including in the United States.
Ocean Canada Map App
What we collect
Analytics. The app uses Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized usage data (such as which features are used and how often). This does not identify you personally.
Camera access. Because the app includes augmented reality (AR) features, it requests access to your device’s camera. The camera is used only in real time to power the AR experience. No photos or video are recorded, stored, or transmitted.
What we don’t collect
We do not collect any personal information through the app.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live in Canada, you may have rights under applicable federal or provincial privacy legislation, which may include the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you
- Request a copy of your information
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information (subject to legal or operational obligations)
- Withdraw consent at any time
Quebec residents have additional rights under Loi 25, including the right to data portability and the right to be informed of any automated decision-making that affects them.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@oceanweekcan.ca.
Data retention
Newsletter and registration data is kept for as long as you remain subscribed or have an active account. You may request deletion at any time.
