📍 Somba K’e Civic Plaza, Yellowknife, NT
Rivers to Oceans Day is an annual outdoor education event bringing students closer to water ecosystems and conservation. Approximately 200 students from grades 1 and 5 in Yellowknife and nearby communities cycle through up to 24 interactive stations hosted by government departments, municipalities, universities, non-profits, and other organizations. Activities cover topics like fish dissection, water quality testing, invertebrates, watersheds, aquatic wildlife, water safety, and climate change. The event is held rain or shine and is timed to coincide with Rivers to Oceans Week (June 8–14), a national celebration led by the Canadian Wildlife Federation that connects Canadian Rivers Day and World Oceans Day.
Hosted in partnership with GNWT Environment and Climate Change and Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
