Saturday, June 6 | 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Rain date: June 7) ๐ Oakdene Park & Miner’s Marsh, Kentville, Nova Scotia
The Town of Kentville invites the community to celebrate World Environment Day with a full day of outdoor activities, environmental education, and fun for all ages. This year’s theme, “Journey to a Greener Future,” brings together local experts, conservation organizations, and hands-on learning across two locations.
At Miner’s Marsh (Bridge St.), expert-led tours run throughout the day: birding walks with the Merlin and iNaturalist apps, “Earth Adventures” where participants explore a duck’s world and learn to build nests and protect eggs, critter dipping to discover aquatic creatures in the wetlands (hosted by Ducks Unlimited Canada), an invasive plant tour with the NS Invasive Species Council, and a native plants walk exploring local ecosystems and pollinators.
At Oakdene Park (46 Campbell Rd.), activities include plant giveaways, gardening workshops, garden tours, eco crafts, exhibitor booths, e-vehicle and e-bike test drives, and a free BBQ with refreshments.
This event takes place in Mi’kma’ki, the traditional unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq.
Presented by SKYLIT, Rotary, the Town of Kentville, and Ducks Unlimited Canada. Registration and full details at kentville.ca/environmentday.
