Champney’s West Aquarium is a purpose-built public aquarium nestled on the rural Bonavista Peninsula in Newfoundland and Labrador, and it’s bringing ocean science to life for young visitors!
During Marine Scientist Workshop sessions, children explore the basics of water science through hands-on experiments and water quality testing with Water Rangers kits. They get to test the pH and salinity of real saltwater, learning to think and work like marine scientists while discovering what makes ocean ecosystems tick.
These workshops are part of an ongoing program running throughout the aquarium’s season, giving children repeated opportunities to connect with the science behind the water around them.
