A Special Day for Pistolet Bay

June 8th
Pistolet Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador

Grade 8 students from White Hills Academy are diving into ocean education with Fisheries Officers and Fishery Guardians! They’ll learn about species at risk and the importance of our world’s oceans, with a special focus on the uniqueness of Pistolet Bay and it’s Parker’s River Arctic Char – the only anadromous population on the island of Newfoundland! Students will explore the restoration efforts of the river, then roll up their sleeves for a beach cleanup near the river mouth and shoreline. It’s hands-on conservation in one of NL’s most special ecosystems!
