A proud Nisg̱a’a citizen and renowned scientist, Dr. Reid leads deeply collaborative, community-rooted research on fish and fisheries—work that honours the past while imagining more just and sustainable futures.

As Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Fisheries Science and founder of the Centre for Indigenous Fisheries at UBC, Dr. Reid brings an intergenerational, land-based, and relational lens to both research and teaching. In this special session, she’ll share meaningful stories that weave together water, fish, youth, and culture—highlighting the deep connections that sustain communities and ecosystems alike.
