This Ocean Week, SCI AIDE is hosting three exciting events that bring together gender-diverse people of color, especially youth, to explore water science in fun and engaging ways. Our events include a virtual dive into citizen science using an ROV, a trip to the aquarium, and a hands-on workshop focused on water quality and ecosystem health.
The workshop will be especially interactive, featuring a segment on water testing with Water Rangers kits, where we’ll dive into the importance of water testing and learn about the health of both marine and freshwater ecosystems. We’ll meet at the Humber River in Toronto, easily accessible by public transit, and spend time testing the water while exploring its significance to our environment. To make it easy and fun, we’re offering free snacks and transit tickets to all participants.
We’re all about creating a welcoming and hands-on space where you can share your thoughts, ask questions, and get excited about water science. Whether you’re coming alone or bringing along a friend or family member, we can’t wait to see you there and learn alongside you!
