This Ocean Week, SCI AIDE is hosting several exciting events that prioritize and bring together gender-diverse people of color, especially youth, to explore water science in fun and engaging ways. Our events include a virtual dive into citizen science using an ROV (remote-operated vehicle), an accessible trip to the aquarium, and hands-on workshops focused on water quality and ecosystem health.
Our Hands-On Shoreline Care events will be especially interactive, featuring a segment on water testing with Water Rangers kits, where we’ll dive into the importance of water quality and learn about the health of both marine and freshwater ecosystems. We’ll also be providing equipment to do a small shoreline cleanup.
Sunday, June 8th, 3pm-5pm ET: We’ll meet at Woodbine Beach’s Bathing Station before heading to a less busy portion of Woodbine Beach.
We’re all about creating a welcoming and hands-on space where you can share your thoughts, ask questions, and get excited about water science. Whether you’re coming alone or bringing along a friend or family member, we can’t wait to see you there and learn alongside you!
