GIANT FLOOR MAP

Before your event

• The map must be signed for on collection at the delivery address that was provided at the time of your booking reservation.
• After accepting delivery of the GFM, carefully unpack and inspect the map, supporting equipment, and print materials for any signs of damage, such as tears, creases, stains, or missing components. Report any issues to COLC upon inspection.
• If you are using the map for a public use event during Ocean Week Canada, you need to register your event (see Event Portal Manual), and publicize your event on your organization’s social media (see OWC Event Host Package).

During your event

• No food or drinks should be consumed on the map.
• If used outdoors, the map is to be placed on a smooth level surface, free of stones, broken glass, and loose materials (for example: community commons, atria, soccer field, large boardwalks, etc.) 
• No tape is to be used on the map. It can be held in place with sandbags, bricks, or large rocks.

After your event

• To ensure the map remains in good condition, remove any debris or dirt before folding and storing it away in the hockey bag. If the map has any stains, gently clean it with a damp mop or towel and allow it to dry completely before packing.
• The shipping label is to be printed, folded in half widthwise along the dotted line, wrapped around the handle of the hockey bag and secured firmly with tape such that all information including the barcode is showing.  Do not tape the label directly onto the flat surface of the hockey bag.
• Complete the 5-minute survey after the event to share your feedback on your experience.

Map Handling and Return

The Ocean, Freshwater & Us Giant Floor Map is a dynamic engagement tool that the team of design partners is keen for organizations, schools, and communities across Canada to use to learn about and deepen connections with the ocean, watersheds, and marine conservation efforts.  We ask that you handle the map with care. Improper handling, including beverage spills and use of adhesive tape or glue, can damage the map and result in repair fees. Each of these printed maps and supporting materials cost approximating $6,000. 

Our delivery providers require a signature for the Giant Floor Map upon delivery. It is the responsibility of the organizational representative that booked the map to ensure that the map is received and signed for at the delivery address provided at the time of booking. Or to inform The Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition’s Operations Manager if there’s been a change in delivery details.

Organizations that do not have a representative available to sign for the map or who damage a map may be fined up to $1000 for repairs and return transportation.
