My journey through sport and life has taught me so many valuable lessons. I grew up on the Gatineau River in Chelsea, Quebec, and started paddling at our community paddling club. I fell in love with the sport and the opportunities that being a competitive athlete enabled. As I gear up to compete at the Paris Olympics this summer, I look back on the road to get to this moment. One big lesson on my path to get here is realizing that you never truly fail, you only learn. Losses or mistakes have been opportunities to learn. I’ve also come to realize that there will be people in your life who will not believe in you and may even want to see you fail. The only person you need is yourself. Through hard work and focusing on doing what you love, anything is possible. I’m proof of that! School is very important and so is sport. For me, through sport I have had the opportunity to travel the world, meet new people, and make a global community of amazing friends.
