In the spirit of Ocean Week Canada 2024, Burgeo’s local NMCA Committee invites you to take part in a week of fun ocean-themed activities from June 1-6. See below for the full schedule of events for Burgeo Ocean Week 2024. No registration is required.

• June 1 – Playground and Fire Hall (11am – 2pm): Witness the unveiling of a new community created mural at the Playground, followed by opening remarks from NMCA committee and Burgeo Mayor, and prayer and songs by Burgeo First Nation. A free BBQ lunch and ocean-themed activities will also take place at 12pm!
• June 2 – Fire Hall (1pm – 3pm): Bring your favourite blanket, stuffed animal, and reusable water bottle and come watch our favourite ocean movie: Finding Nemo!
• June 3  – Fire Hall (2pm – 5pm): Explore a giant map of Canada while learning about the Canadian Marine Conservation Areas that serve to protect the ocean!
• June 5 – Fire Hall (2pm): Witness the unveiling of Burgeo’s new community gathering place next to the Fire Hall. This will be followed by prayer and songs by Burgeo First Nations and a presentation by Will Postma of the PWRDF.
• June 6 – Sandbanks (6pm – 8:30pm): Bring a chair and enjoy a community campfire, songs, and games on First beach at Sandbanks Provincial Park!
