Right of Way Podcast

Ocean Week Halifax

June 9th 2024 - September 30th 2024
Nova Scotia

Right of Way is a limited series podcast that explores the issue of coastal access in Nova Scotia. With nearly 90% of the coastline privately owned, access to the coast and ocean is a recurrent problem of tension between landowners and coastal users and is exacerbated by population growth, coastal development and the effects of climate change. Right of Way will provide listeners with an opportunity to learn, hear powerful stories, and think about coastal access in new ways.

The Coastal Access Project is a collaboration between Nicolas Winkler (Nicolas Winkler Photography) and Dr. Hannah Harrison (Marine Affairs Program, Dalhousie University). Nicolas’ work is supported by an Independent Research Grant from the Royal Canadian Geographic Society and Hannah is supported by a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Marine Affairs Program at Dalhousie University.

Listen on all major podcasting platforms or via the website: www.coastalaccessproject.com. Teaser is expected to be released: June 9th, 2024; weekly episode releases throughout the summer.
