Celebrate Ocean Week by joining Sea Smart and Knowledge Carrier Lorelei Lyons for a Plant Medicine Walk! The walk will begin with a circle at Aintree House and continue along the Brunette River. A variety of Indigenous medicines will be found, and Lorelei will share stories about the river, the trees, the plants and how they have helped people for thousands of years. While learning about these extraordinary plants, we will also be cleaning the ecosystem by picking up any garbage or recycling along the way. We will end the workshop by learning the Algonquin Women’s Water song and reflecting on the importance of freshwater in our lives.

Lorelei Lyons is Chippawa/Metis Originally from Manitoba. She is a Knowledge Carrier for the North Fraser Metis Association and has been in Indigenous Education for 30 years, providing spiritual guidance and cultural educational opportunities for schools, community, and her Nation. She facilitates workshops that encourage cultural rejuvenation and community building.
