The Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition, together with the Johnson Geo Centre, Memorial University, and a team of education partners partners, invite you to a free, all ages, fun-filled afternoon of ocean learning and celebration!

Following the Schools Festival (12:00pm-2:30pm), families and community members can dive into several hands-on ocean learning activities, including: 

  • a 6m x 8m giant ocean floor map and Augmented Reality experience, co-develop by the Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition, Canadian Geographic Education, and Ocean School
  • the launch of the Opulent Oceans exhibit, highlighting the role scientific illustrations played in underwater exploration
  • model robotic arm for coral retrieval and marine life interactions with the Petty Harbour Mini Aquarium team
  • climate science with educators from the Conservation Corps of NL
  • sustainable hook and line fishing and pond critters exploration with Fishing for Success and Project WET Canada educators
