Students in grade 9 science will take a ferry to travel to a nearby island (Quadra Island) where they will engage in active stewardship of our local watershed!
Activities will include learning about aquatic ecosystems (place-based learning), removal of invasive species, and a beach cleanup.
This event is for Carihi students only. Students will learn about watershed management from an environmental designer who specializes in restoring and designing riparian ecosystems.
Topics include identifying native, introduced and invasive species, erosion and glacial deposition (Quadra Sands), impacts of human activities on coastal, marine, and intertidal ecosystems.
