The Ocean Hub at the University of British Columbia is a new student-led ocean knowledge hub that aims to unite the University of British Columbia, Ocean Uprise – a youth-led activist community under https://www.parley.tv/#fortheoceans – and Sustainable Ocean Alliance to drive impactful ocean climate action led by young people. The hub will be a collaborative space where students, UBC communities, and NGOs can leverage and create events, opportunities, and networks to improve ocean health.
Ocean Week Jericho Beach Festival will be our first public event! Our goal is to create an engaging opportunity that will foster ocean literacy – especially about plastic pollution – and action by Vancouver youth. We will be teaming up with Surfrider Vancouver on June 10 and 11 to clean up Kitsilano and Jericho Beach respectively. A local band will be performing live at the Jericho Beach venue (more to come so stay tuned :)). This event is your chance to get hands-on experience in marine conservation, learn how Vancouver as a community can impact ocean space, and have fun! Please bring your own reusable water bottles, closed shoes, and appropriate gear for the hot summer weather.
Please register (for free) for the event with the link provided.
